Updating social media link previews
Sometimes when posting a link to social media or through messaging apps, old information (or no information) may be displayed in the preview. This is due to the fact Facebook and other sites maintain their own database of link information, which doesn't automatically update every time a link is posted and may sometimes outdated.
Here are some ways you can force different websites to show the latest information in their link previews:
To force it to update its info, you can run your site through Facebook's "Sharing Debugger" here: https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug
You'll want to enter your website address in the blank and click "Debug".
If Facebook hasn't saved your page's info before, you can prompt it to "Fetch new information".
Or, if it has, you can click the "Scrape Again" button to update its cache.
After doing this, your link previews should display the latest info.
Visit their "post inspector" tool here: https://www.linkedin.com/post-inspector/
Enter your link into the field and click the "inspect" button.
This will force LinkedIn to update their cache, and your link should appear correctly the next time you post it.
